SafeSpace Usage Guide
SafeSpace is purposefully designed to be a safe, unmonitored entry point to the web. Operating independently of commercial browsers, it does not record your clicks, sync your behavior, or collect usage analytics. Your data is your own.
Here’s how to manage your local speed dial efficiently.
1. Organizing with Categories
SafeSpace uses Categories to group related URLs.
- Creating a Category: Click the ‘Add Category’ button on the main dashboard. Give your category a descriptive name (e.g., Work, Financials, Media).
- Managing Categories: Categories can be rearranged and edited to fit your workflow.
2. Managing URLs (Speed Dial Entries)
Once you have categories, you can add your specific web entry destinations.
- Adding a URL: Click within a category to add a new URL. You will provide the site title, and the fully qualified URL (e.g.,
https://example.com). - Dynamic Favicon Fetching: Upon adding a URL, SafeSpace will quietly and automatically fetch the site’s primary Favicon. This makes your speed dial highly visual and easy to navigate at a glance.
3. Cryptographic Confidence (SSL/TLS Checking)
To protect you against unexpected phishing domains or unencrypted connections, SafeSpace includes an automated SSL/TLS Encryption Check.
When you add a URL, SafeSpace evaluates whether the connection utilizes valid HTTPS architecture. Standard URLs are visually distinguished from fully secure (HTTPS) URLs, ensuring you only launch links with confidence.
4. Launching the Speed Dial
With your dashboard populated, simply click any tile!
Because SafeSpace acts strictly as a URL launcher, it immediately hands off the URL to your Operating System’s default browser (or your isolated compartmentalized browser) while remaining entirely uninvolved in your subsequent session.
5. CSV Import & Export
As a core philosophy of letting you own your own data, SafeSpace provides fluid CSV Import/Export.
- Backup your configuration: Open Settings > Export to save your entire category and URL structure to a portable
.csvfile. - Restore / Migrate Portability: Have a new machine? Moving from macOS to Linux? Just place the
.csvon your new file system, select Import in SafeSpace, and immediately restore your entire secure dashboard. Ensure you provide the app with the correct file system permissions to access the file when prompted via the system dialog.
